Just a quick question with a simple answer i hope :)
When the screen comes to log in i get the following error:
Quote:
fsck.ext2: Is a directory while trying to open /
/:
The superblock could not be read or does not describe a correct ext2 filesystem. If the device is valid and it really contains an ext2 filsystem (and not swap or ufs or something else), the the superblock is corrupt, and you might try running e2fsck with n alternate superblock:
e2fsck -b 8193 <device>

Now i don't know why it is looking for an ext2 filesystem, because all of my partitions (except the swap) are ext3. Here is a copy of my /etc/fstab file.

# /etc/fstab: static file system information.
# $Header: /home/cvsroot/gentoo-src/rc-scripts/etc/fstab,v1.14 2004/10/13 20:03:38 azarah Exp $
#
*blah blah*
# <fs> <mountpoint> <type> <opts> <dump/pass>
/dev/hdb1 /boot ext3 noauto,noatime 1 1
/dev/hdb3 /root ext3 noatime 0 0
/dev/hdb2 /swap swap sw 0 0
/dev/hdb4 /home ext3 noatime 0 0

Theres more but i think its irrelevent, please say if it isn't.
Have you guys/gals got any suggestions? I think that its still looking for ext2 instead of ext3, or perhaps i need to add the ext3 filesystem to the kernel?

Many thanks, allydm

Mountpoint "/root" needs to be "/".

Enjoy.
