What do I do to properly unmask kino to get the latest 0.7.5 version? I tried to put =media-video/kino-0.7.5 ~x86 in /etc/portage/package.unmask but that didn't seem to do the trick. |

Code: | media-video/kino ~x86 |
would go into /etc/portage/package.keywords.
If it's arch mask, it goes into package.keywords. I believe package.umask if for hard masked packages. I'm not sure as I've never added anything to that file so I've never had to research it. |

Hi Ateo. I tried that, but when I try to emerge kino it still tries to emerge 6.4! When I try emerge =media-video/kino-0.7.5 I get this:
Code: | --- Invalid atom in /etc/portage/package.keywords: =media-video/kino
Calculating dependencies
!!! All ebuilds that could satisfy "=media-video/kino-0.7.5" have been masked.
!!! One of the following masked packages is required to complete your request:
- media-video/kino-0.7.5 (masked by: ~x86 keyword)
For more information, see MASKED PACKAGES section in the emerge man page or
section 2.2 "Software Availability" in the Gentoo Handbook.

You have to include the version you want to unmask as well.

I did, it actually says =media-video/kino-0.7.5 ~x86
then it says:
Code: | Calculating dependencies -
!!! All ebuilds that could satisfy ">=media-libs/libdv-0.102" have been masked.
!!! One of the following masked packages is required to complete your request:
- media-libs/libdv-0.104 (masked by: ~x86 keyword)
- media-libs/libdv-0.102 (masked by: ~x86 keyword)
For more information, see MASKED PACKAGES section in the emerge man page or
section 2.2 "Software Availability" in the Gentoo Handbook.
!!! (dependency required by "media-video/kino-0.7.5" [ebuild])

Do I have to unmask this as well? What is the entire list to unmask if so? |

Yeah, you'll have to manually unmask that the same way you did with the kino ebuild. As for your other question, I'd assume that you'd have to manually unmask everything that's listed as a dependency. For convenience, here's the list I get when I do an "emerge -p kino":
Code: | [ebuild N ] media-libs/libdv-0.102
[ebuild N ] media-sound/rawrec-0.9.98
[ebuild N ] sys-libs/libraw1394-0.10.1
[ebuild N ] sys-libs/libavc1394-0.4.1
[ebuild N ] sci-libs/fftw-3.0.1-r1
[ebuild N ] media-libs/libsamplerate-0.1.2
[ebuild N ] media-video/mjpegtools-1.6.2-r3
[ebuild N ] media-video/kino-0.7.5
|
That should help you figure out what to unmask.
