|
|
I searched through several threads and either couldn't find what i was looking for or didn't understand it.
Anyway, it's been a couple months since I've been in linux since I've been playing games a lot and they just didn't work well with the old radeon drivers.
So, I found out they released a xorg 6.8 set finally and have updated to that with emerge x11
Anyway, I then used emerge --sync so that I could emerge radeon-drivers, yet the package it is trying to use is the older 3.14.1 package that wants me to downgrade to xorg 6.7?
I've also tried based on the forum to use emerge ati-drivers-8.8.25 and that gives me this error, which I still don't completely understand

!!! All ebuilds that could satisfy "=ati-drivers-8.8.25" have been masked.
!!! One of the following masked packages is required to complete your request:
- media-video/ati-drivers-8.8.25 (masked by: -* keyword)
For more information, see MASKED PACKAGES section in the emerge man page or
section 2.2 "Software Availability" in the Gentoo Handbook.

I read on the masked packages before, it's been awhile but it still confuses me a bit and I have no idea why this is masked.
Anyway, any help or steps to get the drivers working would be appreciated. |

Enter this:
ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~arch" emerge ati-drivers
I replace ~arch with ~x86 since I'm running an Athlon XP, but I think that leaving ~arch as is works. _________________ Gentoo: Stage3 w/ NPTL & udev, gcc 3.4.4 full rebuild

But if you do so, next time you emerge -u world it will want to downgrade that package.
Create a file /etc/portage/package.keywords (create /etc/portage if it does not exist) and put it there:
Code: | media-video/ati-drivers ~x86 |
