I have the proper bits for my motherboard (nforce2) built into my kernel, but I don't feel like I'm getting 2.0 transfer speeds. Do I need to do anything special to enable them, or should they work out of the box?

There is a separate knob for enabling USB2.0 in the kernel configuration.

First place I would look, assuming KDE, is Info Center > USB devices which will at least show 'the speed' of your devices.

Which devices are you talking of btw?

Hadn't thought of that. I don't use KDE, but I do have the base installed since I can't live without amaroK & K3B. I'll try that out tonight.

It's a Creative Zen Touch. Works fine, just slower than I'd like. I'll admit, though. I've never transfered anything over a USB bus before. It may be functioning properly, I just have no basis for comparrison & it seems slow.

Could be you have it plugged in a USB 1.1 slot in which case, as its backward compatible, thats what it would run at. Looks nice anyway!

Thus far I'm extremely pleased with it. The sound quality surpasses that of the iPod, as does the battery life. Still, the lack of accessories is somewhat disheartening. There's also the spooky 90 day warranty (coupled with Creative's reputation for short-lived products) & lack of ability to play ogg/vorbis files.

Still, all things considered it's a very nice little player.

Whalla...just what I needed. It turns out that I have two USB 1.1 hosts, not two 2.0 like I thought. Just plugged it into the wrong one. Silly me...

Thanks for pointing this out; t'was a big help.
