make error when emerging world

when i emerge --deep world it stopped when it got to the kde packages.. i tried kdebase & kdeartwork individually and recieved the same error from both

libtool: link; cannot find the library /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i386*/3.3.4...
make[3] *** [armor] Error 1

also i have /usr/lib...../3.3.5 not .4

also i need to emerge quite a few config files... dont know if that will affect emerging kde but what might the easiest way to do that as well.
