From what I can gather from my own experiences and the problems on this forum, the chances are that you can't compile kdelibs with alsa in your use variables.

But you can compile arts against alsa, right? (Not sure.)

Question is, why, like with Mozilla, does the ebuild not handle this? I don't want to submit an unecessary bug report, but I do get the impression the ebuild should either ignore the 'alsa' flag or should warn the user pre-hours-long-failed-compilation that using 'alsa' may result in a failed compilated after many hours.
