|
|
Hi,
I booted with Knoppix yesterday and noticed an interesting thing : when you press the windows key in Knoppix, the K Menu (bottom left of the screen) pops up, and you can browse it. Just like in windows.
Now on my gentoo KDE pressing the windows key does not do anything. It is considered as a modificator, and you have to press another key at the same time to perform an action.
I would prefer the "Knoppix way". But I don't know how to do it. I have lookes closely at the knoppix kde config, then at my config, and still don't see the solution.
Has anyone succeeded in making such a trick?
Thanks! |

I believe is in the xorg.conf trick. When you configure it, you might have the option to select the win-key keyboard. Never tried it. I I think that is there where you have to look first. |

Works by default in KDE 3.3.2 for me. I have not modified any keys.
Well, partly true, I have the KDE Keyboard tool loaded and I'm using US English W/ISO9995-3...

Could you please post your xorg.conf (or XF86Config)?
I'm not sure the solution lies there, because I have found no useful information in the Knoppix config files, but I'd like to check.
Anyway the Kde keyboard utility is of no help for me.
Thanks! |

If you manage to configure the windows key, you probably won't enjoy it for a long time. The KDE devs have abandoned the windows key as non-modifier key because it was a hack and also brought some bugs with it.
So, you can use it on KDE 3.3.x, but for 3.4 it will be gone. |
