Infra port on laptop

Hi, I have installed gento and used genkernel.
Now, i need infra port for connection through SonyEricsson T68i. But how to install irda.
I tryed some tutorials, but I havent irda.o.
What to do? Could you help me?

i'm not sure, but do you have irda support in your kernel?
if not, compile it in as module (no need to recompile the whole kernel, just "make modules && make modules_install" in your kernel-directory and try to "modpobe irda").
