Did ye buy a dell server or something?
I think DBUS alon with HAL has just paved the way for the Linux Desktop. Look at the possiblities
I tried out MS Windows XP Tablet edition, I was impressed, mainly with the handwriting part which linux has yet to offer and the MS Journal app! |

Yup life happends some people feel that it suits their needs better. The only thing you can do is have a debate with them and he may have a valid reason for actually switching.
And yeah OS X is writen really well, but I enjoy the developer environment more. _________________ If God has made us in his image, we have returned him the favor. - Voltaire |

i bought a notebook recently, but the reseller forgot to put these "designed for WinXP" stickers on the case. XP Home Ed. OEM was preinstalled, but the reseller also forgot to provide a product-key
if more of these things would occur, people won't be lead into temptation really using windows... _________________ Think! Disobey! Create! |

Well win xp isnt that bad, It just because we like linux so we seem to kick its ass.
I am a really big linux fan myself as you can have any program just by doin a simple command "emerge", instead of paying for every application I want to use. _________________ http://www.phonics3k.com | http://www.phonics3k.co.uk

Please keep in mind that you are posting on a linux discussion forum. I would suggest not making general attacks.
anyway...
The biggest security threat in my opinion is people who run sshd and then absent mindedly register their root password on a website username (forum, for example).
This almost happened to me, but I caught myself. sshd is risky. |

Yeah, like he said, who cares? It's just some kid with some server. If he got hacked he failed at securing it. Perhaps he should stick to WindowsXP after all. I'm sure that luna theme will help aid him in better system resources. Along with all the junk microsoft forces you to have and embeds into the system. Just remember, know thy enemy, and the enemy of linux is M$ with their big budget lawyers .
I used to use microsoft products before I switched to gentoo. First there was 98 and it was so so. Then there was XP and I spent hours and hours tweaking it for somewhat speed and customization. Then I found out about windows 2003 and used that since microsoft doesn't care about personal products, it's the businesses that actually demand quality. Note it's been proven by benchmarks 2003 is at least 20% faster than xp. But windows 2003 server was still windows, and it sucks. Call me close minded but microsoft just sucks all the way and I see no reason to even think about their products. The only benefit they have is popularity of use, that is the ONLY advantage they have. But it's like they say, only constant is change |
