Tried out xfce 4.2 and it seems to be a huge improvement over previous versions, and still incredibly fast.

I have run into one problem though. When I run xffm it crashes. Can't decipher anything from the output. Then just trying some random things I found that if I do xffm and then a space, and just about anything after that, it starts up without any problems. Finally I realized it was just taking a parameter, such as xffm /usr would start it opening that directory. But, if I just start xffm it crashes.

Is it supposed to work that way? It didn't in the previous version, and it seems they would change the default shortcut on the panel, if this was the desired behavior. Is it a bug? Anyway, if more people experience it, at least it's easy to fix.

At least for the time being try going to your menu editor in settings when you click on the desktop and then add ~/ to the arguments after xffm. Then of course do the same with other shortcuts for xffm.

I'm not sure why you're having this problem, but for the meantime you can try out rox. It's in some ways nicer than xffm IMHO.
