Hi guys,

after the happenings of this thread https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=283206 I wanted to try the switch to udev again.
Therefor I used the tips given at the end of the thread.
I created the console device, and the null device.
Trying to start, the init-scripts complain about the missing root-partitioen /dev/hda4.
So I started Knoppix and made them manually with mknod (as suggested in the thread above).
Now the system starts, but after starting local, nothing happens anymore.
Starting Knoppix (what I must have done 20 times that evening/night) I looked in the logfile and saw, that tty0 was missing.
I had no other choice that copieing it from the Knoppix dev-directory.
After that I was able to login.
coldplug and hodplug are emerged and running at bootlevel "boot".
But the /dev/ dircetory was nearly empty, there were only the devices that were created by me and some by coldplug. (e. g. vc/ vcc/, but not much more)
X could not start, I looked in the logfile ... tty7 was missing.
I copied it from Knoppix.
This procedure repeats up to two times, until I simply copied the whole /dev/directory.
X starts, but KDE was not able to load and hangs at "Loading modules".

At this point I had screamed at my PC, if it weren't one o'clock in the night.
(Nothing made me ever more problems than this dump device-systems and I'm using gentoo for over one year now)

So I wiped out the /dev directory and used a kernel with devfs support, as that helped the first time. (in the prolog-thread above)
I just wanted to get a running system!

When I started, the system complains about superblocks on my root-partition and wants my to start rebuild.sh.
I know that, I had heavy data-los on another system, because I thougt that the filesystem was corrupt.
but it happened after an kernelupdate, so now I know, that it only was related to the device-systems.
I don't want to lose that much data, that I loose at the other PC.

My PC doesn't work anymore, so somebody must help, PLEASE.

Okay, I got it working now.
The main point was to remove .devfsd from the /dev directory.
