I'm been looking around and haven't been able to find a decent answer. I want to take the 5.1 sound from both my windows PC and my linux PC and have them be able to play on the same speaker system.

I know you just can;t take Y adapters and plug them up to each of the 3 inputs. Each input/output is a standard headphone jack male or female depending on where it plugs in. I suppose I need a mixer board or something? Anybody know how this can be done?

Thanks,
Paul

If you're mixing two 5.1 sources you'll need a mixer that has two 5.1 inputs on it, and then send that mixed output to your 5.1 amp/speakers. Unless one of the computers has a 5.1 input that you can send the 2nd signal to, then just hook the speakers up to that comp and set the levels. I guess things get a little more complicated when you start using digital signals...I'm still in stereo computer land myself =)

Any ideas on where I can find a mixer with two 5.1 inputs like what I'm hoping to get?

Paul

Here is a list of profressional / amatuer console mixers:

Maybe you might find what you're looking for. I noticed some of the high end Behringer mixers have the 5.1 input, but they look a bit pricy

Well, I looked over the kelly industries site and I'm overwhelmed by what all they have. But I have no idea if anything will do what I want. I'm not all that audio savvy when it comes to a problem like this. Could you guys recommend any specific mixer?

I'm guessing that for two computers each with a 5.1 system I need a mixer that can mix 12 channels?? Would a stereo reciever be able to take and merge the two 5.1 computers to a single 5.1 output??

Thanks,
Paul
