Does this bug report sound like the same issue? _________________ Per Ardua Ad Astra

The person who reported the bug has already tried a lot of stuff to fix this (we talked via PM), but nothing seemed to help. Probably the best thing to do for the moment is to downgrade to Xorg 6.7, and maybe report it to ATI: http://apps.ati.com/linuxDfeedback/index.asp. _________________ Per Ardua Ad Astra

After upgrading from X.Org 6.7 to 6.8, there are some pretty major changes. Run fglrxconfig again to create a new X.Org Config file. _________________ Gentoo: Stage3 w/ NPTL & udev, gcc 3.4.4 full rebuild

We tried that already, but there aren't that many changes anyway. The most important part of the config is the ATI device section, and that wasn't changed by either of the people who are having the problem. It looks like a driver problem at the moment. _________________ Per Ardua Ad Astra

My computer just locks up when trying to start X with new ati-drivers and xorg 6.8.x. After typing startx it just gives blank screen in monitor and TV and freezes. Only using hardware reset helps. I had to downgrade back to xorg 6.7.0 and old ati-drivers. Running the config tool has no effect. |

I have the same problem. But when I reverted back to x0rg 6.70 and ati-drivers 3.14.6 it still continued!!! I couldn't even get my dual setup back from the old way. I booted into windows and dual works fine but not in linux. I dont understand why I can't even revert. lspci -v gives
