Hi,
I'm using some early epia boards - they are quite good supported by the default kernel / X. But what about the newer board? And boards by third-party manufacturer using the new chipset? I've heard "rumors" (so this can be complete rubbish ) that there are only binary drivers by VIA and no more working FOSS drivers.
To be concrete: The new epia boards and the SL-B6A-F1000 from Soltek f.ex. are using VIA CLE266 + VT8235 CD.
Thanks

The VT8235 chipset is quite well supported. The CLE266 chipset does have a reverse engineered open source driver, but setting it up isn't easy. You can get quite easily just get basic X11 support, but if you want accelerated 3D support or MPEG2 acceleration you're going to have to work for it. |

Great news! (OK, not so great that VIA isn't releasing specs, but I don't know other still produced passively cooled systems and I need some...)
