|
|
My Laptop is NTFS'd to the hilt, but I figure with a bit of trickery it should be possible to put a gentoo install on the 2G pcmcia microdrive ???
I guess the tricky bit will be getting grub to look at a pcmcia or alternativley putting the kernel somewhere else (may have to be a CD)
Anyone been here before or have some useful comments ???
cheers all,

Assuming that the PCMICA microdrive is supported by the kernel, all you should really have to do is to make a boot CD with the kernel, although the most convenient, I think, would be to resize your NTFS partition just a little, and put in a boot partition for grub that would load a kernel, telling it to use the microdrive as root (but then... is that even possible?).
Looks like I'm in over my head here. Do tell us how it goes, though. _________________ Man must shape his tools lest they shape him. |

Check to see if your BIOS will let you boot from a PCMCIA device. My only thought on that... |

Is this possible?
My microdrive would be useful running gentoo on my work laptop
