emerge: updating configfiles

Another ebuild problem. Some ebuilds want to add config files. Naturally. Anyway, unless CONFIG_PROTECT="" they don't get installed. Now I wonder, after an successfull merge, when I get the message "warning: two configfiles need to be updated" wether there is a chance to see, what files are either installed or changed ? And where do those files reside, so that at least an manual inspection would be possible ?
