Matrox P650; need help.

So now that I had my nvidia card working, I had to change it to a non-working one.
For the greater good of silence, which has been acquired now.

However, the card seems a bit...off. It doesn't work properly.
I am able to enter my kde desktop environment but I am not able to set a resolution higher
than 640x480, the more am I in some 8 colour modus that I really don't like.

Now, I did try to set a defaultdepth for example, but when I do defaultdepth 24, xorg won't load. I did change the drivers to vga, and if I have to set them to mga, someone has
to tell me on how to unmask stuff, because I didn't get it from the manual (that's the only
thing though :p).

So, if you have any tips on how to set my colours higher, probably with another driver,
and if you can tell me how to unmask I'd gladly accept your tips.

Since the matrox support seems rather thin, I couldn't find many topics about this.
