Hello, i am a new gentoo user.
I have just bought a new compaq pc with the following elements:
Code:

1 SATA hdd which is powered by ICH6R
ATI PCI express X300 SE
MODEL compaq 1319ES (spain compaq model)

I have booted with the 2004.2 LiveCD and booted with no options. Barry the cow have appeared my screen and i pressed f2 to see how things are going.

This is what appears: (i jump bits as i cannot copy and paste all, please as more detail if needed) This is in chronological order but with some bits missing

Code:

ICH6:IDE controller at PCI slot 00.1f.1
PCI: found IRQ3 for device 00.1f.1
PCI: sharing IRQ3 with 00.1d.2
ICH6:chipset revision 3
ICH6: not 100% native, will probe IRQs later
(jumped bits)
SCSI: subsystem driver revision: 1.00
kmod: failed to exec /sbin/modprobe -s -k -scsi_hostadapter, errno=2
kmod: failed to exec /sbin/modprobe -s -k -scsi_hostadapter, errno=2
kmod: failed to exec /sbin/modprobe -s -k -scsi_hostadapter, errno=2
(jumped bits)

What happens is that the computer freezes here at the usbcore and never goes on. I can not even input with the keyboard
... usbcore

i have already searched and noticed that there is some problems with this chipset but people have solved the problem, i wish if i could also solve it.

thanks to everyone and i apologise for my n00bness

Yu

Usual question... have you tried to boot the 2004.3 cd or to disable usb from the boot command line?
