|
|
I have tried all the thread fixes I can find and am having no luck. I have tried xine and mplayer. I have emerge libdvdread libdvdcss tried emerging with the "dvd" use flag even though it is in my make.conf. I have tried making symlink of /dev/cdroms/cdrom0 to /dev/dvd still nothing. This is the one thing that gets me about linux. I had this working with no problems and it only took me a few minutes and emerges, but I had to re-install my system and can I get it running this time (NO!). Any help would be greatful please. |

A little more detail would be helpful.
Are there any error messages?

Of course the usual question is DMA enabled on the drive?
I never could get completely smooth playback using the gentoo-dev-sources. Once I switched to ck-sources playback was better.

Udev is the single best upgrade of my entire system. Whenever i build a system now, the only configuration i need to do is edit /etc/udev/cdsymlinks.conf, & everything works! That was quite a novelty, first time out.
You have some playback, so the /dev/dvd symlink is working, as are the decrypters & codec's, just not terribly well. Have you tried various disks, in case one's dodgy?
There were some threads a while back about xine having a problem with divx5, but nothing regarding dvd, as far as i recall. What does 'choppy' look like? _________________ "Anyone who goes to see a psychiatrist should have their head examined!" |
