Spamassassin is very slow

My Evolution is using Spamassassin this way:

if pipe to program "spamassassin -e" returns greater than "0" move to folder "SPAM"

But, it is extremly slow

Is there anything i can do, to make spamassassin work faster?

do you use rules_du_jour for spamassassin?
Reducing the ammount of rules makes spamassassin faster, but you will loose quality.
