i used zonealarm back in windows.. now in linux theres the firestarter frontend to iptables, but is there such a customizable firewall as zonealarm for linux (control apps, network,..) |

the linux firewall in general is iptables - you can only have different front ends to it. Firestarter is the one most windows-alike...
Guarddog might also be worth a look... but they all do the same:
reading the iptables log and locking down ports/ips/...
