I'm trying to set up a mythtv frontend using gentoo (been through Arch, Slackware, Debian, Fedora, Knoppmyth, in that order, and while Arch is my favorite, myth dies on it inexplicably)
Anyway, I emerged lirc with support for the atiusb driver (btw, emerge is almost as cool as pacman and abs, and with better pkg build scripting) and loaded the modules, but I don't have a /dev/lirc device, only /dev/lircd.
I have coldplug and hotplug running, and it seems to load all the proper modules.
Does anybody have any experience with this? |

In the Gentoo setup Wiki for mythtv it says you need to set the :
LIRCD_OPTS="-d /dev/lircd"
in the /etc/conf.d/lircd file
I still can't get mythtv to show a live picture or the hauppauge grey remote to work! |

But that's circular, because /dev/lircd is the device that lircd creates so clients can interface to it.
It also means I get nothing when I push a button on the remote. I'm using the niveus with the atiusb driver. I had this working just fine under arch, so I'm quite certain the hardware works. |
