WG511 Problem (again)

I have the "made in China" WG511 wireless card which I have heard does not work. However, since recompiling my kernel with Prism2 support, there is a new interface eth2 which can see the wireless network here. So, the card seems to be recognized but there are no lights on it to show it is working.

Also when I try to connect to the VPN that I have configured it for, I get an error "LCP: Timeout sending Config-Requests", and it won't connect.

What I want to know is, is this problem because my card is not supported, or is it a problem with my configuration somewhere? I do not want to waste time messing with all the settings if it turns out my card will never work anyway.
