what version are you using (realtime/normal)? I believe tiger683 is working on a new realtime version which fixes up the agp probs. Other then that, I'd don't know, it looks to me like it might be a preempt bug (which is why i asked if you where using the realtime version as ALOT of preempt changes where made in this version).

I'm using the normal version.

When I run ebuild nitro-sources-2.6.11-rc2-r1.ebuild digest, I get the following error:

!!! PF is null 'nitro-sources-2.6.11-rc2-r1'; exiting

Any ideas?

EDIT: It was because that's an underscore, not a dash, in the name. Never mind.

Cutting off the call-trace wasn't a good idea...
could you please post it all?

OK, I've been looking, and as far as I can see, it's an error caused by paging the memory. Umm, u probably used a patch that makes it compile against the new 4-level pages-model, but probably it was not so complete....
But we need more info if you want REAL help...

cheers,
T

EDIT:
Did you try changing the amount of mapped memory through proc?

I don't know if i'm just stating the obvious now. But i think you should mention that the right syntax for xorg.conf is
Code:
Option      "NVAGP" "2"

instead of NVAGP=2, just to avoid confusion :)

Mon: I'm assuming that people will know what I'm talking about.

The_Master: Has it happened again? Occasionally I'll have problems like that (haven't for a while, but it HAS happened) once and then it will never happen again.

jnengland77: Are you sure you've compiled the right driver in for it? There is no mouse wheel patch.

These are the errors that come often when using rc2-mm2.
The experimental doesn't contain the patches that cause the module-bug,
I'd rather like more info from you
on this...
PS: are you using xfs?
just asking, because this filesystem is pretty broken in rc2 anyway....

cheers

for the xfs error:

go to the file

<kernel source>/fs/xfs/linux/xfs_linux.h

and change the macro

Code:

#define current_cpu()                smp_processor_id()

to

Code:

#define current_cpu()                get_cpu()

hope this helps a little with the fs error....
Somehow xfs doesn't hear to the preemption rules otherwise....

Yep im sure i compiled the right one... :( I've tryed CK sources and these and they still dont work... I've gone thru the Network option and everything appears to be right... I compiled the Dummy as a module and the SIS900 driver into the kernel(also tried as a module.) and a bunch of other networking options... I'll try again later today.

Yes Tiger683, i use xfs for my ftp partition. I try the fix.

I try to compile the alsa stuff into the kernel but fyi i have it all modular and do not use
alsa-driver from portage.

Thanx for your quick replays! NITRO ROXXXz!!!

Has anyone tried Beagle with this kernel yet?
I can't get it to work, but then this guy in a Beagle thread said:
Quote:
Oops, sorry guys, my mistake, forgot to mention that Beagle-0.0.5 needs version 0.17 of the Inotify patch. (For CVS you need version 0.18 )

So: what version of inotify is in this version of nitro-sources?

With alsa-stuff compiled into the kernel sound is back and working!

Many Thanks Darkness :D :D

The XFS problem still exists:

Hi Tiger683

I have fixed up the file
</usr/src/linux/fs/xfs/linux-2.6/xfs_linux.h>
it was a little bit different with linux-2.6 in the path but i still get these errors in dmesg.

Do you need a full output file of dmesg?

Best regards,
sibov :?

Sorry, don't want to be rude, but i actually do not desire to maintain the xfs filesystem-tree, as said, it's quite broken in rc2.
I'm currently working on the next nitro experimental which will NOT include the all-breaking mm-patches, and instead about 200 patches to fix various stuff, including xfs, so be patient...

cheers

T

EDIT:
These patches will probably not get into stable nitro, mainly cuz it would be an overkill to first verify they all really work. we will see in action.. That's what experimental is for.
PS: both nitros will probably include lirc driver ;)

@ sibov:
For the xfs, try this patch (please backup the whole xfs subdir in case it breaks sth and doesn't compile! ):

I know this is way off topic, but I just spent some time creating a nitro-sources desktop background. I don't have any permanent web space, so I was wondering if you could give me your email, Darckness, so I can send it to you. Or we could work something out - I think you'll like it.

Cheers :D

Code:
include/asm/io.h: In function `check_signature':
include/asm/io.h:242: warning: wrong type argument to increment
/var/tmp/portage/nvidia-kernel-1.0.6111-r3/work/NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-6111-pkg1/usr/src/nv/os-agp.c: At top level:

6111 is 100% busted in 2.6.11-rc*.

Edit: On a side note, I added the nitro sources howto to www.gentoo-wiki.com.
