When I boot up the gentoo live-cd it detects my hard drive as /dev/hde and the cdrom as /dev/hda.
Once I boot the OS after installing, the drives swap, making /dev/hda the hard drive as it should be.
My problem is with lilo. When I edit my lilo.conf, I have to set the boot partition to /dev/hde1 in the live-cd otherwise /sbin/lilo wont run (says /dev/hda1 is readonly). But upon rebooting, I get a "L 99 99 99 99..." error from lilo.
I dont understand why it detects the hard drive as /dev/hde. Older versions of the livecd worked fine.
Does anyone know what the problem is? |

In my '/etc/lilo.conf' the boot is set only to the drive without the partition being specified:
If this doesn't fix it, maybe post your lilo.conf.
