I upgraded my processor & motherboard and am having problems with installing gentoo.
The amd64 2004.3 LiveCD doesn't auto detect my prism54 card. When I modprobe the prism54 module, /var/log/messages shows it trying and failing to load the firmware. Search on this board shows one instance of this problem but no solution https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?p=2010064&highlight=prism54+firmware#2010064
My last gentoo install on this box was done via knoppix to get the wireless going, however, I can't find a knoppix64 iso as the links from that project's home page are not working. -Update: I finally did find this iso, but it doesn't work with the chip set in my MB.
I left a message in the beta Live CD thread to see if there is a amd64 version as it does load the prism54 module fine. Other than that any ideas, other than pulling the cpu out of my desk and carting it down to where my wireless router is? I prefer not to go that route
Cheers,
Jerry
*****Update******
I was finally able to get this to work by using Ubuntu64 Live CD (Hoary). It detected my card & loaded the firmware fine. Ubutu seems to be a nice alternative to Knoppix for AMD64 wireless installs. Until that is a AMD64 version of the Beta LiveCD is released.

Don't buy netgear? Sorry, I don't know. 64 architecture is tricky sometimes. |

Actually, it's a SMC that has worked fine for two years.
Yes, the requirement to get the system up using 64 bit binaries so chroot works is a bit limiting.
