This will allow an easy method of contacting all moderators at one time.
- Users:
- If you spot what you believe to be a duplicate post, please post a link to it here. In addition, include a link to what is being duplicated.
- If you find a post you think belongs in a different forum, let us know.
- Avoid multiple reports of spam:
- If a user's posts are all spam, report the user, not the posts.
- Review this thread after submitting a report. Please delete your report if someone beat you to the punch.
- Any other post that you think requires moderation (violations of Guidelines, broken BBcode, etc.).
- Moderators:
- Please delete posts after you've addressed them.
Thanks in advance.

Looks like a spam magnet to me. I expect to see spam posts for properties in Turkey from new users any time now.
I've posted a warning. The banhammer is close by. -- Neddyseagoon.
Maybe I'm too wait and see in my old age.

Topic: How to manage multiple gentoo installations
Post: post 8808277
Reason: Technically there's nothing wrong with this one, but it hits uncanny valley for me. It is also a necro-bump by a long term (though not very active) member... Kinda feels like a stolen account, though I don't have any way to verify it.
Dunno, I guess just watch for now.
Under watching, thanks for the report -- fedeliallalinea |

At the very least wrong forum, possibly a spam placeholder

Post: post 8835641
Reason: Could be either just a bored new user or a placeholder.
Actually, do you guys receive notifications when users edit their own posts?
Beside necro posting, but on topic, I do not see anything wrong here, yet. --Banana
[We have access to the forum's notification tools, but administrator privileges do not automatically sign us up for notifications on user changes. Thus, it's good for someone to actively set a watch on suspect content. Sometimes we do this on our own, but it never hurts to have observant users call out suspicious activity we might have missed. -Hu] _________________ Make Computing Fun Again |

Topic: emerge usage that is confusing
Post: post 8843240
Reason: That's really getting off topic and it's really annoying to see even administrators buying into it. It makes a bad impression rules/guidelines are not for everyone. I would push back even further, but I'm not buying further into it.
p.s. if you want to discuss it, maybe split the thread.
EDIT (pjp): I did consider splitting it due to the number of posts on the subject, but it is directly related to the original question. "Would this usage be correct?" And that included the use of --with-bdeps=y. Subsequent discussion on whether to use that feature or not, and any related problems or considerations seem to me to be very on topic. --pjp, 2024-10-18
I think you could take two routes here. The route you took speaks a ton.

Post: post 8847781
Reason: We've been here (with other users, possibly, I don't remember who it was) wrt ChatGPT-style posts. Posting nonsense from them isn't good for the forums. It means people waste their time rebutting it when instead, people could ask earnest questions, or just do their own research. The quote in particular here from ChatGPT has a bunch of errors.
Locked. --pjp |
I'm well aware what the AI policy states, I agree with it 2.
It was only there because package list which benefit from clang build stack is hard to set.
I tried for a while before going GPT which was fair not to filter out.
Thus that list with a pinch of salt.
Sharing your knowledge could have been beneficial?
Anyhow it was and remains up to you.

Reason: Somewhat suspicious. No mention of Gentoo, no nothing, straight into their "project" with very generic questions, no details whatsoever. Keep an eye.

Maybe my suspicion is not justified. There are responses from the user that seem to be genuine. --logrusx

Reason: Wrong bug link.
[Administrator response: Confirmed. The reported post used [bug=] without a bug number, causing the link to point to the root of the server. I removed the bad tag, and now the forum's automatic linking points the link to the correct place. -Hu] |
