After I boot up and go into X and work in the gui, top shows I use about 150MB memory (got 1GB). I emerge something and it goes to 900MB. I thought since this is a compile and pulling in code from all sorts of areas that this is normal behaviour. However when the emerge finishes and I'm not running anything besides X and top, it still reports 900MB RAM used. Anyone know why? and is there something I can do about it besides rebooting?
