Is it just me or are there others who think that Gentoo's docs page is badly organised?
Before I was searching a little, but since they have put this additionnal category layer, now I search a lot! 
For example, I wanted to refer to the alsa howto. Now, is that howto inside "Installation Related Resources"? Inside "Gentoo Desktop Documentation Resources"? Or maybe in "Gentoo System Documentation" then? Oh wait! Maybe it's in "System Administration Documentation"?
Hmmm. Mi-ni-mi-ni-my-ni-mo...

that's true, i dont find anything in the new docs now... the old way was a lot better...

Alsa is about sound, right? Sound is something you have in Desktops, right? So Alsa howto is under Gentoo Desktop Documentation Resources. Easy as that. Just have to think a little. What is the problem with that?

The split in separate categories enables us to have a detailed overview on the documents inside a category while retaining the possibility of having a full overview elsewhere.
In other words, if you like the category splitting, use http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en, otherwise use http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/list.xml.
You will not see me telling you don't have a choice  |
