|
|
I was just wondering for a script if there was any way where I could detect either when the screensaver for XFCE (I assume it's xscreensaver) is running, or when mplayer is in full screen mode. I just wanted to add a conditional to decrease CPU usage since everytime I run xfdesktop -reload the CPU usage goes to 100% for a second and lags my system. This isn't an issue with other programs really, but it's annoying when I am watching a video, tv, or something along those lines... |

Bump.
Doesn't anyone have an idea about how to accomplish this, or did I ask in the wrong section of the forum? |

After reading this thread, i came up with this wraper:
Code: |
xscreensaver-command -exit
mplayer "$1"
xscreensaver -nosplash &
|
/EDIT: just realized that one can start mplayer with the -stop-xscreensaver argument, or can put stop-xscreensaver=1 in the mplayer.conf file. Haven't tested yet, but it probably works. _________________ We are not alone. |

Hmmm... that would help for disabling the screensaver, but I'm looking for functionality to detect when I'm in fullscreen mode to avoid having my desktop change in the background and lag my video for a little bit during the change (since xfdesktop essentially reloads all of its settings when the background changes). I'll see about what the devs say in terms of checking for fullscreen mode though since I just emailed them about it. |
