Listing directory freez or restart my box - SOLVED

I have something wrong in my box. I have a directory ( /opt/tomcat5/webapp/ROOT ) and if I try list this directory system freez or restart without any notifikation in log.

I run 2.6.7-gentoo-r16 and I tried 2.6.10, and knoppix with some 2.4.x kernel with same effect.
I don't know what is in this directory, becouse I can't list it => freez or restart.

Can you advise me please?

It happend to me with a corrupted filesystem, an fsck would correct this, f this is the case, right.
