Moin Moin!
I just started with gentoo and have strange problem. Earlier I used debian with Xfree and my Nvidia GeForce 2MX 400 was configured with 24 bit. Of course I tried the same with Xorg, in fact it doesn't work. I have to change it to 16 bit. Both X use the "nv" driver. Does anybody have a hint for me?

Which version of Xfree did you have installed? Which version of Xorg is it installed?
Are you using the same configuration file?
Did you emerge Xfree on your system to test whether Xfree will give you this colordepth? |

First, there is no Xfree Package in the portage, so I didn't emerge it.
This is the Xorg Version I use: xorg-x11 6.8.0-r4
I configured it with xorgconfig. After the problem occured, I changed it with nano -w /etc/X11/Xorg.conf.
Version of Xfree (it was the highest version in changelogs  ): XFree86 4.3.0.2 |
