Hi

I have a littel problem ???

USE="gnome java nptl zlib -kde" emerge -pv openoffice-ximian
[ebuild R ] app-office/openoffice-ximian-1.3.7 -curl -debug +gnome -hardened +java -kde +nptl +zlib

OK

the instalation works fine..

but i see this littel problem ??? when i try to open a document using the switch "CTRL +O" and use the comand "SAVE-AS" i see this error in my shell promter:

localhost ~ # xoowriter

libgnomevfs-ERROR **: file gnome-vfs-cancellation.c: line 133 (gnome_vfs_cancellation_cancel): assertion failed: (gnome_vfs_is_primary_thread())
aborting...

localhost ~ #

then i emerge again the gnome-vfs like this
localhost ~ # emerge -pv gnome-base/gnome-vfs
[ebuild R ] gnome-base/gnome-vfs-2.8.3-r1 -debug -doc -gnutls* -hal* -howl* +ipv6 +samba +ssl

then same problem the ximian-openoffice freeze when i try to open using "ctrl+o" and when i try to save with "SAVE-AS"

so can anyone help me with this problem ???

Thank you in advance...

Just try removing the gnome flag and see if that does anything different. Ximian-openoffice functions perfectly fine without gnome support.

Mainly I think it's interface. new set of icons... much better looking one.

But openoffice2 is all new icons too (still beta). I tested the Windows version.

Ximian uses more gtk widgets and supposedly it uses less RAM than regular OO since it uses those native widgets as opposed to the Java invoked ones. Plus, if you input in other languages ximian's easier to negotiate with than OO since it has a gtk frontend.

//Edit: I also learned that OO uses it's own WM in X, so no wonder it eats up so much memory =?...
