|
|
I configured my kernel with ALSA and specified the proper driver (snd-via82xx) for my onboard sound (VIA AC97 Audio Controller) I have the "alsa" use tag specified. I installed xmms using emerge. I get absolutely no sound. I don't know what the problem could be. I checked some install guides to no avail. Any suggestions? |

Did you check the guide on how to setup ALSA in the Gentoo user docs section? If not here's a link
http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/alsa-guide.xml
It mentions quite a few things you have to do such as unmute your master channels and whatnot to get it working.
Also check what sound output is selected in xmms preferences. |

I had looked at that before, but it was about installing ALSA as a module. In the end, that's what I wound up doing, and it worked. |
