Hallo Community,
bitte nicht schimpfen, falls dieses Thema schon einmal angesprochen wurde. Ich wusste aber nicht, mit welchen Begriffen ich mein Problem finden könnte.
Es ist folgendes: Nachdem ich Portage und das Stage auf meinem neuen Gentoo-System entpackt, die Konfigurationsdateien bearbeitet hatte, war es Zeit die Live-CD zu verlassen und von dem neuen System zu booten. Hat auch alles geklappt, nur werden mir sämtliche Dateinamen die länger als (ich glaube) 8 Zeichen sind, mit dem Zeichen ~ dargestellt.
Beispielsweise die Datei ndiswrapper-0.12.tar.gz wird als ndis~.gz angezeigt. Deswegen kann ich auch nichts emergen, weil er die Datei nicht findet!
Muss ich im Kernel irgendwas beachten? Habe eigentlich alle wichtigen Zeichensätze drinne. Oder muss ich irgendwie ne EInstellung einer Konfig ändern?

Hm, welches Dateisystem verwendest du und wo genau zeigt er die Dateinamen nur abgekürzt an (im Midnight Commander wäre das nämlich von der Breite abhängig)

Was für ein Dateisystem benutzt du?
Mir fällt jetzt spontan nur FAT16 ein und darauf Linux zu installieren wäre weniger schlau
edit: ich war wohl etwas zu langsam |

Als Dateisystem verwende ich ReiserFS und ich befinde mich zur Zeit immer noch im Textmodus, habe also noch keine grafische Oberfläche. Kann es sein, dass es nur an der Auflösung liegt, die ist nämlich noch auf 640*480. Dann wäre es ein sehr,sehr dummer Fehler von mir...!
Mit der Live-CD funktioniert übrigens alles... |

Wie gesagt: Wo werden die Dateien abgekürzt? Wenn du ls machst, oder ls -l oder mc? _________________ ...it's only Rock'n'Roll, but I like it! |

eigentlich immer, wobei ich bis jetzt immer nur ein einfaches ls gemacht habe (sitze gerade an der Arbeit, kann also erst heute Abend wieder testen).
wenn ich aber eine datei mit cp kopieren möchte, macht er das gleiche. Beispielsweise

Auch die Verzeichnisse werden mit ~ gekürzt, sofern sie zu lang sind! |
