cannot boot strap

when i run the command

cd/usr/portage
scripts/bootstrap.sh

i get error

* error " does not exist. exiting


any help ?

either:
1. if you copied those commands from your log, you're missing a space in cd /usr/portage
2. you forgot something earlier in the install process
