I'm using the amd64 installation, but It's also an install problem, so I wasn't entirely sure where to put this, if it's in the wrong place would a mod please move it :)

Anyways.. I loaded the universal install CD for the x86-64 platform, and started installing, following the handbook (Which is a great, kudos to who made it.) Everything went flawlessly until I did

cp /mnt/cdrom/distfiles/* /mnt/gentoo/usr/portage/distfiles/

So then it starts doing it's thing, until about five seconds in, I get this error.

omitting directory /mnt/cdrom/distfiles/cvs-src

Right.. so, I'm kinda confused, and try again, same error.
So I re-started from the beginning.. same error this time too.

I tried to just go on, ignoring that (yea, I know.) and came to an error after

ls -l /usr/src/linux

yea, well, it's not there.. great.

I checked the MD5 sums, which I the beginning, but they're fine..
I booted back into XP (no comments =|), and looked at the files on the CD.. there is nothing in /distfiles/cvs-src

So.. maybe I just missed something obvious, but if anyone could point me in the right direction I'd be most obliged :)

Thanks, I'll try that now :)

EDIT:

Ok, that seemed to get rid of that error, but I'm still getting that /usr/src/linux doesn't exist.

The "omitting" error is just cosmetics, that directory isn't needed anyway.

The missing /usr/src/linux is probably because you haven't installed a kernel source yet.
