Back in my Debian days, I used a script to configure exim called eximconfig. But the best I can tell from searching this forum and Google, this script is not a part of exim and only comes with Debian.
Does anyone know a way to get this script without causing Gentoo problems? Can it be emerged? Or could someone post it and have gentoo users downlaod and use it? Aug! One minute with that script saves about 2 weeks of having to read the Exim book (which I plan to do some day, I was just hoping not this week). |

Well, you may have a problem. At least according to debian.org, the newest version of exim available, even in Sid, is 3.36. Gentoo doesn't have a 3.x exim package in Portage -- only 4.x ones.
There are some fairly significant changes/additions to the exim.conf file between 3.x and 4.x, so chances are even if you *can* get eximconf installed on a Gentoo system, it won't work as expected.
I haven't tried it myself, so YMMV and all that.
