Grabbing Audio to mp3 format from the command line

Hi!

I was just wondering if it is possible to grab audio from my webcam (Philips Ucam Pro PC740) without video directly to the mp3 format, using a pipe to the lame encoder ? I have compiled in support for the USB webcam in the kernel (also the Video4Lin).

OR is there any program out there that can do this for me ?
It has to be from the command line and I wan't to record in 44.1kHz Mono 16bit -> mp3.
