Hi,
Long time ago i baught me the Hp LaserJet 1000. It is a really good laserprinter for win---- i thought. As i tried to install it under Gentoo i saw at linux printing that the printers eprom is so small that you have to upload the firmware every start. Ok it is possible to do this under linux i ve seen ... but then i got a problem.
as i tried to install the driver from linuxprinting.org i get the error messag
"driver has not the right format"
Ok ...
Is s.o. out there who can tell me how to install this odd printer under linux ... i dont want to have to switch between super gentoo linux and win only for printing a few lines _________________ On the Box was written: "Needs Win98 or better"....So I installed Linux ... |

Sorry to be so vague but I'm still not at the point of configuring my printer and didn't keep bookmarks of the sites but it is a Laserjet just like yours. I remember reading that the Laserjet 1000 series was pretty special. You needed to download a 9mb Windows drivers and extract the 200kb driver / firmware from it.
The firmware has to be sent to the printer each time before printing or something like that. Sending it was pretty easy, something like "cat firmware > /dev/printer". |
