Hi all,
As the topic, I believe this is an long-existed problem in Gentoo LiveCD. Not only I have seen so many threads discussing this issue without a solution, I have been trying to boot my Toshiba Portege 2010 with Gentoo LiveCD since Gentoo 1.4, and it never worked!

Am I just doing the the worng way or is it really not working?
this is how I boot it:

gentoo-nofb dopcmcia

The LiveCD Alsways gives me

Code:

cannot mount on /newroot/mnt/cdrom (something like this)
and
The root block device is unspecified or not detected

I don't think it's the hardware capability problem since even old Mandrake 9.1 worked fine on this laptop.
Of course, I can still install Gentoo using some other LiveCD or some other ways... but wouldn't it be nice to get Gentoo LiveCD working :wink:
