I'm running 2.6.9-rc2-nitro1 with Xorg-6.8.0 on a Centrino laptop with an i855GM graphics processor. For the past couple weeks my X session has been restarting while idle. I'll sit down at my computer to find that I had been logged out and was back at my display manager login.
The kernel dumps the following oops each time this happens:
Code: | [drm:i830_dma_initialize] *ERROR* can not find dma buffer map!
[drm:i830_irq_emit] *ERROR* i830_irq_emit called without lock held
Unable to handle kernel paging request at virtual address 0fee8b30
printing eip:

My xorg.conf hasn't changed, I use the i810 driver and DRI/DRM from the kernel. Any ideas? _________________ If tugboats were bigger, they'd be the ones getting tugged. |

I am noticing a similar behaviour, 2.6.8-gentoo-r4, xorg-x11-6.8.0-r1:
[drm:i830_dma_initialize] *ERROR* can not find dma buffer map!
[drm:i830_irq_emit] *ERROR* i830_irq_emit called without lock held
Unable to handle kernel paging request at virtual address f000e2d3

Are you running a 3D screensaver (glmatrix, etc...)?
Currently my graphics card driver crashes X every time I try to do 3D, so if your screensaver uses 3D that will cause you to be logged out every time it turns on, and then [xkg]dm will return to the login prompt. |
