Code:
navi root # hdparm -d1 /dev/hdd

/dev/hdd:
 setting using_dma to 1 (on)
 HDIO_SET_DMA failed: Operation not permitted
 using_dma    =  0 (off)

I'm trying to enable dma but I fail. It is enabled in bios however, and I'm trying to do so as root
as you can see, what is that all about? :?

I solved it - it seemed to have been a motherboard & bios error of some sorts, I had to upgrade
the mobo's bios and all of a sudden I was able to switch DMA on. :)

Thanks for helping out anyways.

I have an ASRock Combo-Z, not really one of the top-notch ones. :P
With the ALI chipset anyways.
