Do they have to be native Linux? If not, I reccomend Soldat
Also, Aleph-One is an official port of the Marathon series to modern OSes, and supports Linux natively. Pretty dated graphics though, and the mouse control is horrific. |

you should find quake, doom and unreal-tournament in portage... though you still have to own the cd's in order to install/play them
as for "free" alternatives:
try enemy-territory or americas-army |

When you tried et you might wanna:
emerge enemy-territory-truecombat
emerge xqf
Its a tactical shooter. But it has a bug - you will have to use xqf to find servers. But a great mod with good graphics and gameplay. _________________ I can't breathe. |

Well, enemy-territory-truecombat is the same game, but ported to the superior (to Quake 3, anyway) ET engine. _________________ Ex-Gentoo Developer

russianpirate,
I'd be interested to know how quake3 runs with that vid card. Its still in its box somewhere and I wouldnt mind throwing some bits together for an extra games machine. Mainly for messin around. _________________ Hysteriagaming.co.uk is now DOT COM! New design, forum, articles, the works! http://www.hysteriagaming.com

ET actually runs on the quake3 engine... (rtcw engine is a quake3 engine with some added effects) so the engine isnt what differs. ET-truecombat is somewhat different in other aspects, but yes, it has better graphics, but NOT because of the engine. _________________ IBM Thinkpad T42P - Gentoo Linux |
