I'm one of the many people trying to design a Linux-based set-top movie player. I've pretty much got it sussed except for one thing - some form of automount/autorun facility. I'm not talking the standard supermount method (mount on request). Let me explain:

1. On inserting a CD, the Linux box should automatically mount it.
2. Once the drive is mounted, a script should automatically run (as root).
3. I don't want it to auto-unmount, only unmount on request. (Usage of the eject button on the drive would be a happy bonus, but isn't necessary. A shell command will do.)

I'm effectively looking for a MacOS / WinXP mounting hybrid. I really don't think automount will do it, although if anyone wants to prove me wrong...

Any ideas, people?

Alex

I should've learnt by now. Always Google! (Or in my case Google UK.)

Autorun seems to be the app I need to do this. Project page is at http://sourceforge.net/projects/autorun/.

Will try getting this working tonight and post my results (in case anyone's interested).
