In about a week, i will be getting a T1 line for my household, as my father uses it for work-related stuff. We have a gentoo router, that currently connects to cable. If i was to buy another ethernet card, how could i make my router be able to share the load between my cable connection, as well as my T1 line. Also, would I be able to give my T1 line priority for uploading, as it is asynchrous?
Thanks. _________________ i like gentoo |

Yes, this can be done. You'll need kernel support and a relatively new iproute2. For more control, I'd suggest you use iptables to mark packets and just set up a couple of routes with iproute2. Here's a great howto that I used to get my wireless and dsl uplinks working together:

Note that the 'load balancing' stuff didn't work for me very well. YMMV |
