To run a particular piece of code in c++ i need gcc 2.96 or older. Can any one suggest a series of steps that i can follow to be able to install gcc 2.96 and use it.

PS: the error message that i get when trying to compile on newer gcc is as follows

IOBase.cpp:60: error: invalid conversion from `int' to `std::_Ios_Openmode'
IOBase.cpp:60: error: initializing argument 2 of `void
std::basic_fstream<_CharT, _Traits>::open(const char*, std::_Ios_Openmode)
[with _CharT = char, _Traits = std::char_traits<char>]'
