I've emerged xorg-x11, kde and qt. When I try startx and startkde, I get something like this. Is there any pointer on how to proceed to correct this? One more thing: I don't know where the current xorg.conf file sits. There is not xorg.conf under /etc/X11/. |=

KDE isn't using the KDE window manager, kwm - it's using the default xwm that comes with X.
Yes, it's ugly.
If there is no xorg.conf in /etc/X11 then it's in your home dir - assuming you have one at all.
xorgconfig should do the trick.
There is, however, an xorg.conf.sample in /etc/X11 - you could try editing that.
xorgconfig is the easiest way forward, though.
Read the X Configuration Guide. _________________ >>> emerge (3 of 7) mcse/70-293 to /

Tried Xorg --configure and xorgconfig and they didn't particularly work. After I've deleted the /etc/X11/xorg.conf I've edited, X server loads fine. So, I'm using startx without any xorg.conf. Strange. Tried with locate but I can't seem to find any xorg.conf file anywhere. |
