I'm using the latest gentoo-dev-sources and ide-scsi/osst driver for my Onstream DI-30 IDE-Tape. The tape works with flawless with latest gentoo-sources and ide-scsi/osst. The driver seems to recognize the tape correct under the 2.6.10 kernel:
Code: |
asgard root # dmesg | grep osst
osst :I: Tape driver with OnStream support version 0.99.1
osst :I: $Id: osst.c,v 1.70 2003/12/23 14:22:12 wriede Exp $
osst :I: Attached OnStream DI-30 tape at scsi0, channel 0, id 0, lun 0 as osst0

I'm running a udev system, with latest udev from unstable (052). The problem seems to be, that there is no device created for the tape. Neither st0/nst0 exist (or something similar). Isnt that something, what udev should do? |

I haven't had time to look into it. But yesterday, emerged the udev-052 and
tried to mount my usbdrive that has been using with udev for awhile.
No /dev/sda* created at all. Didn't have time to look why and udevstart didn't
help either. So remerged udev-050 back and my usbdrive worked right away.
So for now you might want to downgrade to udev-050 and try it. Looks like something
has changed and someone else might figure out why, before I have time. _________________ Support bacteria – they’re the only culture some people have.”

Trying to figure it out, wasn't working. Emergeing udev-050 and 052 back and forth,
then all sudden 052 started working. Flashdisk mounting via the script and manually
like it did with 050 and not sure what is up. But working now?! _________________ Support bacteria – they’re the only culture some people have.”
