Well in portage there is muh, miau and ezbounce. I do know nothing about each of them, and according to the websites they all have pretty standard features. Miau actually is a fork of muh and they seem to have no difference except the name?! I like cows more than cats so i would choose muh over miau but that seems to be a very bad reason to decide on.

I usually used psybnc which isn't in portage, thats why i would prefer one of the others.

Since this is about security and networking i put it into this forum, and hope you guys can tell me which bouncer you use, and for what reason. I want the most secure and most stable one I can get, and if it is in portage it gets a 100 bonus points.

I´m using psybnc - compiled it myself, no big deal... 8)

Otherwise, see https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=35887

I compiled psybnc myself a thousand times, thats not the problem. I just wanted to hear some others opinions on the three other bouncers which are in portage already.

I haven't used any bouncers in a little while, mainly because my time on IRC has dropped considerably, but I used ezbounce most. I know it had the occasional security problem, but then again, all IRC bouncers seem to.

I could have sworn that psybnc was in portage at one time or another. I wonder why it's not there now. Perhaps there's already an ebuild in bugs.gentoo.org.

EDIT: Indeed, it does.

j-m posted that already.

Does ezbounce support multi users, or just multi clients? I do not need to connect to one bouncer session from my laptop and my desktop for example, but I like to have different users and do not want to have different instances of the programm on different ports.

Oops.. hadn't noticed that he already posted that. Sorry about that. As far as I remember, you are able to setup multiple users on ezBounce, each with their own privileges and passwords and stuff like that.
